Meet Our Founder
The Learning Hub was born out of one mother’s unshakable resolve to turn personal struggle into systemic change. Brandy Sandersfeld—a seasoned disability advocate, rural education innovator, and mother of two—founded the Learning Hub after her son, Jasper, was failed by the very system meant to support him.
Jasper, a gifted and neurodivergent child, endured relentless emotional trauma in his public school. Yelled at by teachers, bullied by peers, and misunderstood at every turn, he began to harm himself—an agonizing response to an environment that saw his behavior, but not his needs. When the pandemic closed schools, Brandy turned to homeschooling—and watched her son begin to heal and thrive. That transformation made one thing clear: the system wasn’t just broken for Jasper. It was failing countless other children, especially in rural communities where options are scarce and families are overwhelmed.
Brandy channeled her personal experience and two decades of professional expertise into creating the Learning Hub, a full-service microschool and safe haven for children who don’t fit the traditional mold. Grounded in trauma-informed care, disability justice, and positive behavior supports, the Learning Hub serves as both an educational model and a community solution.
As a first-generation college student and a passionate advocate for underserved families, Brandy’s voice has reached far beyond her hometown. Her work has earned national recognition, and she has been invited to the White House twice to help inform federal conversations around disability rights and rural access.
For Brandy, this isn’t just about education—it’s about equity, healing, and opportunity. The Learning Hub represents what’s possible when we stop trying to force children to fit broken systems—and start building systems that fit the child.
