Get To Know Us

At The Learning Hub, we're more than just a microschool—we're a movement redefining what education looks like for rural kids who’ve been left behind. Founded by Brandy Sandersfeld, a nationally recognized advocate for inclusive education and neurodiversity, The Learning Hub is a safe haven for children who’ve been overlooked, underserved, or misunderstood by traditional systems. Here, every child’s voice matters, and every learning journey is honored—especially those growing up in communities where options are few and futures feel out of reach.

Our Story:
The Learning Hub was born from both heartbreak and hope. When Brandy’s son, Jasper—an autistic, gifted child with multiple disabilities—was failed by the traditional school system, she knew something had to change. After witnessing the harm caused by rigid, outdated structures, Brandy realized that children like her son weren’t just falling through the cracks—they were being pushed.

Drawing on over two decades of experience in disability services, inclusive education, and policy advocacy, Brandy left behind her role running statewide programs to build something radically different. She envisioned a place where curiosity drives learning, where kids aren’t labeled for what they can’t do, but celebrated for who they are.

Set deep in the Ozark Mountains, in a region where internet is spotty, public transportation is nonexistent, and the nearest school may be an hour away, The Learning Hub is more than a school—it’s a lifeline. We serve children in one of Arkansas’s most underserved rural communities, many of whom would have no educational opportunity at all without us. Some are unhoused. Some are homeschooled by necessity, not choice. Some are neurodivergent, medically complex, or survivors of trauma. All of them deserve access to quality education—and now, they have it.

Our Mission:
At The Learning Hub, our mission is to empower rural learners to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially—no matter their zip code.

We believe that education should be built around the learner, not the system. That’s why we deliver:

  • Personalized curriculum that adapts to each learner

  • Hands-on, project-based learning grounded in real-world skills

  • Sensory-friendly environments and trauma-informed staff

  • Integrated mental health and family support services

  • A culture of belonging that celebrates differences and builds confidence

We’re not just preparing kids for the next grade level—we’re preparing them to lead in their communities, start businesses, solve problems, and imagine new possibilities.

In places where resources are limited, we are showing what’s possible when you invest in people over systems. We’re proving that rural doesn’t have to mean forgotten. It can mean innovative, bold, and full of potential.
